The town of Vienna has a population of 15,687 and was settled in 1754. In 1767 the first recorded home referred to as Ayr Hill was built by John Hunter a Scotsman who settled in the area. It was 1850 when Ayr Hill was renamed Vienna when physician William Hendrick negotiated that they change the name of the town in honor of his hometown of Vienna, NY.
