Blakely is actually a borough in Pennsylvania with a population of over 6,500. The borough is split by the Lackawanna River which flows straight through the middle and is home to the Blakely Borough Recreation Complex. The borough is only 4 miles away from Sarno & Son’s located in Scranton. Blakely was named after naval war hero Johnson Blakely who was Captain of the sloop Wasp during the war of 1812. An anchor from the USS Wasp can be seen at the Johnson Blakely Memorial.
